Using ClipGuru

Other Features

Available with ClipGuru version 2

ClipGuru offers Button, key combination and menu options for clip combining, clip sequencing and 'List Paste' functions.

Combining Clips Version 2 offers two different options for combining multiple clips into a single clip. Note that 'combining clips' only combines the plain text rendition of the clips. Any rich text rendition is not combined.

Combine Captures
This option when selected, combines subsequent text captures into a single clip. Each new capture is separated from the previous capture by an end-of-line, or carriage return, line feed combination. Clips will be combined until 'Combine Captures' is turned off, or some other clipboard affecting action occurs, such as selecting a different clip. While in 'Combine Captures' mode, the ClipGuru tray icon will have a yellow background.

Combine Selected
This option allows you to combine 'selected' (highlighted) clips from the clip list, into a single new text clip. The original, selected clips are also maintained.

Sequencing - Clips are stored in the ClipGuru database in the sequence in which they were captured. While various clip manipulations may change the sequence of clips in the Clip list display, refreshing the display or changing sets will cause the clips to be displayed in their original 'capture' sequence. The 'Add/Remove Sequence Numbers to Notes' edit menu option allows you to add/remove sequence numbers in all the notes in the active set. The set may then be sorted on 'note' sequence by clicking on the 'Note/Source' header in the clip list display panel. Please Note - ClipGuru uses a sequence identifier prefix of '(>)' to identify notes for which it has generated sequence numbers, so please don't prefix any of your own, not sequenced, notes with (>), unless you wish the following 5 characters to be considered a ClipGuru sequence number which will be deleted on any subsequent re sequencing.

List Paste is a feature which allows you to paste a series of clips in order via successive paste operations. List Paste is activated via the List Paste button OR via ctl/alt/V or ctl/alt/T key selections (if the ctl/alt/V and/or ctl/alt/T option(s) have been turned on in the 'Options' panel).

You may find list paste useful in filling out repetitive forms from a sequenced list, or set, of selected data. For example, consider the list in the figure above. Positioning yourself anywhere in the list and setting the 'List Paste' via either the ListPaste button option, or ctl/alv/V will cycle through the entire list, one after another, on successive ctl/alt/V operations.

Alternatively, you might want to cut several items and then paste them back in order. You could 'cut' the items as usual and then enter ctl/alt/T which will position you at the last item cut and also turn on list paste. You may now paste the items in order via successive ctl/alt/v operations.

Using either method, the paste sequence will keep cycling through the entire clip list as long as 'List Paste' is selected. Please note that while list paste is active, the selected clip changes with each paste operation and the clipboard capture mechanism is off - ClipGuru is deactivated, as indicated by the red ClipGuru icon. List paste is deactivated (and clip collecting activated) either by pressing the ListPaste button again or via ctl/alt/V (which leaves you positioned as you are in the cliplist) or ctl/alt/T (which positions you at the 'top' of the cliplist). In other words you turn list paste off via any of the mechanisms used to turn it on.

Reverse Case Have you ever keyed a sentence or two only to notice you had inadvertently hit the 'Caps Lock' key and now the text was reversed from what you had wanted? With ClipGuru version 2 you may select a keyboard 'option' (see 'Options") to remedy the problem by cutting the text, reversing the case via a 'case reversal' - ctl/alt/R - keyboard sequence and then pasting it.

Additional Information Display - Is available by clicking the 'Additional Info' button and displays information about a clip which is stored with the clip but not shown in the normal clip list display, such as date and time of capture, full source and note information and whether the clip was captured as 'Rich Text'.
