Welcome Version 2.0 Release Candidate beta testers.

As you probably know, version 2.0 brings major improvement to ClipGuru, both visible to the user and internal to the program. You can learn more about those below.

Version 2 features an improved data design, which eliminates the previous 'multiple' index and database structure in favor of a single sqlite database.

First, you should exit the ClipGuru program, if you have it active (look for the icon in the system tray). After you've exited, if you wish to preserve your current ClipGuru executable, you may rename it ClipGuru.exe.1.9 since you will probably be running the version 2 executable from your existing ClipGuru program directory. If you have never run ClipGuru before, there is no need to rename the executable or convert existing sets.

Now it's time to download the ClipGuru version 2 release candidate executable. You can get it here - ClipGuru version 2 release candidate beta download.

Once you've downloaded it and have the ClipGuru.exe in your ClipGuru program directory, you may simply execute it and begin. If you placed the new executable in your existing ClipGuru program folder, any existing ClipGuru shortcut should work to start the program. If you're a previous ClipGuru user, ClipGuru should display a message the first time you run it, mentioning our conversion process. If you're a new ClipGuru user, you'll get the normal first time user message asking if you want ClipGuru to start when you start Windows. This is the most convenient option, since with it you don't have to worry about missing clips.

Once ClipGuru is running, you're ready to begin using it and benefiting from it's utility features.

To review some of the other new features available in version 2 see ClipGuru 'Other Features'.

Conversion

For those of you who have used previous versions of ClipGuru and want to import existing clip sets, we offer a conversion feature which allows you to import and convert your existing sets to the new ClipGuru data format see ClipGuru data conversion. Conversion will not affect your existing ClipGuru database, so should you wish to return to using ClipGuru version 1.9, you may do so. However, any new clips captured under version 2 would not be available in your previous database.

We're particularly interested in: Your experience and opinion of the user interface. Drag and Drop within the clips listing and to sets is new, but might be confusing to some people not used to it. Some beta testers questioned both the need for, and value of, 'sequencing' and 'List Paste', feeling they might confuse more people than would receive any value from them. What existing features make you a satisfied ClipGuru user or would possibly dissuade you from using ClipGuru?

Please report your experiences, favorable or unfavorable, to us at support@clipguru.com , or use the 'send us a comment' feature from the ClipGuru 'Help' panel or visit our support forum here .

If for some reason you would like to suspend the release candidate testing and return to using ClipGuru 1.9, you may simply exit ClipGuru and either rename or delete the version 2 executable - ClipGuru.exe. Now rename the ClipGuru.exe.1.9 to ClipGuru.exe. You may now run the 1.9 executable as usual. All of your old clips and sets should be available to you. If you should subsequently wish to resume testing with version 2, merely follow the process above. If you've captured new clips that you wish to import to the version 2 database, you need to delete the new ClipGuru database and perform the conversion again. If this should become the case, please contact us for instructions on how best to proceed.
